tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-833528.post115050748034706902..comments2023-11-03T02:33:12.938-05:00Comments on heaven and hell: shades of red, tooAnonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00228241191445709072noreply@blogger.comBlogger1125tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-833528.post-1150594795074543052006-06-17T20:39:00.000-05:002006-06-17T20:39:00.000-05:00yeah...i think that one of the most interesting no...yeah...i think that one of the most interesting non-obvious (to me, at least) thing *taught* (whether it was by me or by our shared experience in dealing with others) was in exactly what happens in a community center, like the museum...and that we, as citizens, can't just sit around throw money at groups but we need to engage with them and see what is and is not happening, figure out why some things go right and some things don't and if there are big problems then we need to work to help solve them. and the groups need to be receptive to this engagement too...or BOOM. email fights galore!<BR/><BR/>i'm learning that there's this area of research called "service learning" that all kinds of people at the university are interested in -- where the teacher and the students all go out into the community with no set-in-stone curriculum and then they see what they learn through serving non-profit groups. i think it's groups like the living-learning communities that can really make these classes work.<BR/><BR/>anyway, i think that the 4.8 goes to all of us together, not just me -- it was an adventurous year for all!!!Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00228241191445709072noreply@blogger.com
